Casual Friday: Embarrassed Republicans Admit They’ve Been Thinking Of Eisenhower Whole Time They’ve Been Praising Reagan

This is just a casual post for Friday. However, it does actually provide a surprising amount of informative economic policy content. A recommended read for laughs and economic policy.

The Onion: Embarrassed Republicans Admit They’ve Been Thinking Of Eisenhower Whole Time They’ve Been Praising Reagan

WASHINGTON—At a press conference Monday, visibly embarrassed leaders of the Republican National Committee acknowledged that their nonstop, effusive praise of Ronald Reagan has been wholly unintentional, admitting they somehow managed to confuse him with Dwight D. Eisenhower for years.

The GOP’s humiliating blunder was discovered last weekend by RNC chairman Reince Priebus, who realized his party had been extolling “completely the wrong guy” after he watched the History Channel special Eisenhower: An American Portrait.

“When I heard about Eisenhower’s presidential accomplishments—holding down the national debt, keeping inflation in check, and fighting for balanced budgets—it hit me that we’d clearly gotten their names mixed up at some point,” Priebus told reporters. “I couldn’t believe we’d been associating terms like ‘visionary,’ ‘principled,’ and ‘bold’ with President Reagan. That wasn’t him at all—that was Ike.”

“We deeply regret misattributing such a distinguished and patriotic legacy to Mr. Reagan,” Priebus added. “We really screwed up.”

IKE enjoyed a period of Social Renewal when he expanded the New Deal and assured infrastructure would be built for the booming population.
I find this article quite interesting.
Think about what can HEAL America.
This period of American History seems to be distorted by so many HATERS.
IKE was responsible for HOUSING SCHOOLS and FREEWAYS.
We needed all of the above at the time unless America wanted to remain in the Stone Age.
This infrastructure was built using Tax Bonds
The Tax structure didn’t coddle the wealthy
FDR and IKE were Two Great Presidents and I was born when IKE was President.
I am a Baby Boomer and an Army Veteran with Two Honorable discharges
I have over 100 quarters of civilian work too.
America is going through a transformation of the work force and environment.
Boomers don’t fit in quite often.
Relief becomes important to a baby boomer in need after all those years of hard work and I’ll be damned if they haven’t run into a network of DOPE fiends who have been using the safety net as a HAMMOCK for the last Twenty to Thirty Years while you were working and have TENURE.
Then boomers have to listen to the insane politics of Social Security and AUSTERITY.They are whining about how much it all costs. They seem to forget about the IOUs that were left in the coffers when Social Security was more solvent.
That loss and all the Interest GONE.
    It’s margin call.
WE want the funds placed back.
Americans also want tax breaks for the MIDDLE class who will PROMPTLY spend it and stimulate the economy and then Much Higher taxes for Risky financial moves that can effect all the citizens.
Higher taxes for High Speed Arbitrage and the GREEDY F#@K$ who pay a 15 percent capital gains rate and many times even LESS.
These Blatantly arrogant citizens eat HARDY while citizens on stipends dwindle looking for housing and NEED RELIEF after years of TOIL
The Pursuit of Happiness isn’t non negotiable. is it ?

The booing of the Golden Rule is BRUTAL
They want to Screw unto others and want AUSTERITY
They focus on Bad citizens and their behavior instead of seeing a larger picture.
All or Nothing Thinking is an Epidemic
All or Nothing Thinking ENABLES all classes to do their worse.
THEIR SELF RIGHTEOUS DOGMA gives the wealthy greedy fu@&S a self righteous Excuse for not paying taxes WHILE AMERICA GOES TO HELL.
THE UNIONS WILL NOT BUDGE ON PENSIONS EITHER.
HEY I’M BITCHING AT THE WEALTHY TOO BUT THEY AREN’T RESPONSIBLE FOR EVERYONE’S PENSION CONTRIBUTIONS AND DEFERRED MADNESS
CAN’T HELP CITIZENS WHO REFUSE TO HELP THEM,SELVES TOO.

The Fiends aren’t supposed to have tenure after not paying taxes.
San Francisco’s Care for Crackheads left boomers on the streets while some young and able crackhead was given a room to sweep streets between HITS.
The wasted human resources is sad indeed and as the gap grows the chance of getting a job dwindles and another citizen is dependent on the system.
Using resources wisely to HELP citizens is the goal HOPEFULLY
The GAMERS are being WEEDED OUT and the serious players are getting decent jobs and housing EVENTUALLY as .long as they are patient.
    VETERANS have political game
Non veterans less resources and the housing not as good.
More serious interactive and socially active residents are good for the SRO environment
That is wanted and needed in SRO environments
    The Best Chance that most

Ike is a republican surrounded by democrats at a time when the New Deal was well understood as a positive thing. Clinton is a Democrat surrounded by Republicans at a time when free trade is well understood as a positive thing. That probably puts them about equal in the political spectrum. The fact that we had growth during the new deal and it slowed down when Reagan hit should be a clue that free trade economics does not belong in the same class as the new deal economics.
